Administration Director: Dr. James Wetherilt
A physicist by background, Dr. Wetherilt obtained his Ph.D. from Sunderland University in 1982. Following three years in industry, he moved to Turkey where he lectured in physics at Bogazici University, Istanbul. In 1985 he began a collaboration with the Marmara Research Centre of the Turkish Science and Technology Council (TUBITAK-MAM) and was later the first foreign national to be employed by TUBITAK. There he worked in a project to characterise transport properties and deep levels in III-V compound semiconductors and quantum well structures. In this period, Dr. Wetherilt gained expertise on data acquisition techniques. In 1995 as part of a NATO sponsored project he established a laboratory for the measurement of the optical properties of materials used as solar absorbers and was instrumental in the development and commercialisation of selective surfaces for the Turkish market. In 1997 Dr. Wetherilt became a founder member of Artesis, a small company owned by Arcelik AS, with responsibilities for developing electric motor test equipment. Noteworthy products were a system for production line testing of fractional horsepower motors that gained international recognition and was awarded the TTGV-TUBITAK prize for technical achievement, another one was deemed among the 40 best products of 2000 by the Control Engineering Journal. Dr. Wetherilt now works as Administration Director for ICHET. He has publications in metal physics, semiconductors, energy systems and real-time operating systems. Since 1990 he has been a regular contributor to the various ICTP workshops on microprocessors in physics. He is married with two children.
Financial assistant: Ms. Reyhan Sevencan
Reyhan Sevencan is currently working as the executive secretary for Administration since 2004. She has more than 9 years of experience as an executive assistant in many fields of business since 1994. First, she worked for the Güneş Insurance Company, Istanbul (1994-1996) as an executive secretary. Her next employment was in Obay Construction Company (1997-1999) under the same title. She graduated from Office Management & Executive Assistant Department of Marmara University, Istanbul in 1999. After her graduation, she started to work as a chief executive assistant in a Governmental District Town Administrative Office (2002- 2004). She obtained a BA degree in Business Management, Anadolu University in 2005. Ms. Sevencan was born in 1975, Istanbul. She likes nature and is a member at Trekking Club of Marmara University. She is interested in reading and collecting history books for her personal library.
