Managing Director: Dr. Mustafa Hatipoğlu

Dr. Mustafa Hatipoğlu was appointed Managing Director of the International Centre for Hydrogen Energy Technologies on 1 February 2008 after a 35 year career in high profile public and private Turkish industries.
Born in Istanbul in 1950, Dr. Hatipoğlu entered Ankara’s prestigious Middle East Technical University in 1968 and obtained his MS in Mechanical Engineering in 1976. After a brief period of military service, he was hired by the State-owned Turkish Aircraft Industries in Ankara, where he worked until 1978 as a project engineer.
His career subsequently took him to Bursa, where he became Production manager for Arı Kalıp Company from 1978 to 1980. Deciding to form his own company (Bursa Gözlük), he operated as technical manager from 1980 to 1982. He was then hired by Mako, Turkey’s largest automotive auxiliary industry, first as Maintenance Group Chief and later as Engineering Manager, R&D and Product Engineering Manager until his retirement in January 2008. His expertise of product design and development, time-to-market, production technologies and total quality aspects were put to good use by the company and he was directly responsible for the release of a significant number of new designs and licenses.
Dr. Hatipoğlu completed his PhD thesis on “Surface-Pitting on Pinion Gears of Motors” in 1990 and since then has been regularly involved as a technical consultant to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources in many areas, especially in relation to coal gasification. He is also the Turkish national delegate in the EU/FP7/Transports and SME fields since 2007.
Mustafa Hatipoğlu is married and has three children.

Rim Maarouf graduated in Istanbul Bilgi University, where she studied international relations and political science. A trilingual, she has perfect command of Arabic, English and Turkish. During her career, she has been Administrative Assistant (Operations & Safety) at UNRWA (UN), Assistant Director at University of Bahcesehir (Istanbul), Administrative & financial Assistant at the Muslim Cultures Organization (UK), Senior Sales Manager QRED ( UK). Finally Advisor of the General Manager & Business Development Manager at Alp Muhendislik .co.ltd. She has a solid experience in developing and implementing a variety of corporate programs, including those that must comply with corporate, state and/or federal agency guidelines customer orientation. She was involved as Project Manager in European Union Projects (FP7 ) writing projects with a team from Tubitak and Brussels on ICT Fields. The most famous project which she accomplished is “automation tool”, which aims to design a secure and trustable future.
